  • Biography of H. S. Aghamiry: H. S. Aghamiry received the Ph.D. degree in seismology with the Institute of Geophysics, University of Tehran, Tehran, and the Ph.D. degree in sciences of the earth and universe with the Geoazur, University of Côte d’Azur, Valbonne, France, in the framework of joint Ph.D. student, in 2019. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Geoazur, University of Côte d’Azur. His research interests include linear and non-linear optimization and their applications in seismic processing, imaging, and inversion. He is a member of SEG, EAGE and SIAM.
  • Biography of D. Auroux: D. Auroux is a mathematician at the Laboratory Jacques Dieudonné (LJAD) of University Côte d'Azur. He is a graduate of Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon. He received a PhD degree from University of Nice. His PhD deals with data assimilation techniques with application on external geophysics. His main research topics are:
    • Data assimilation for geophysical problems: I am currently working on a nudging based DA algorithm (see this page for more details on this algorithm).
    • Image processing by topological asymptotic expansion: the idea is to apply the topological derivative theory to the classical variational formulations of image restoration (see this page for more details and numerical results - this page is quite old, sorry, but send me an e-mail if you are interested in more recent stuff).
      Edge detection software and image registration software available on request. Other researc topics: Optimal control, variational methods, Coupling data and models, Inverse problems, numerical analysis, Image registration and identification of velocity fields from sequences of geophysical images (see this page for several numerical results)
  • Biography of L. Combe: Laure Combe received a M.Sc degree in Applied Mathematics (1994) from Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (Fr) and a Ph.D (1997) in Fluid Mechanichs from Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse (Fr) with Electricité de France. After ten years as engineer in several software editing companies, she joined (2009-2013) Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et Automatique (INRIA) as research engineer on numerical simulation of magnetic confinement plasma fusion (ITER project). Since 2013 she is working as CNRS HPC engineer in Geoazur where she is developping a frawework for full waveform inversion software. Her professional interests concern the development of computational-science software in HPC environment.
  • Biography of V. Dolean: Victorita Dolean works in Computational Science. I construct mathematical models and quantitative algorithms, and use computers to solve scientific problems. I focus on complex problems that can be modelled mathematically by partial differential equations. I use cutting-edge, high performance computing techniques, including novel symbolic tools, and I perform rigorous analysis to validate the results. My research has led me naturally into interdisciplinary collaborations across science and engineering.
  • Biography of A. Gholami: A. Gholami received the Ph.D. degree in geophysics in 2010. He is currently a Professor of geophysics. His research interests include inverse problems, statistical signal processing, compressed sensing, regularization methods, and application of these methods to seismic processing, imaging, and inversion. He is a member of SEG and EAGE.
  • Biography of P. Jolivet: Pierre Jolivet is a research scientist at CNRS. The Toulouse Institute of Computer Science Research (IRIT) is my host laboratory.
    I work in the field of high-performance computing (especially for the design of fast and robust solvers in computational sciences).
  • Biography of F.-W. Mamfoumbi-Ozoumet: Frichnel-Wilma Mamfoumbi-Ozoumet received a M.Sc. degree in Earth science in 2019 and Engineering degree in geophysics in 2020 from the Ecole et Observatoire des Sciences de le Terre (Strasbourg). She is currently a PhD candidate at Geoazur under the supervision of S. Operto. She has recently started working on 3D seismic imaging methods, namely : Full Waveform Inversion and Wavefield Reconstruction Inversion with application to long offset seabed OBN acquisition. Her work covers issues related to seismic acquisition, wave simulation and inverse problem solving.
  • Biography of A. Miniussi:
  • Biography of S. Operto: S. Operto received an engineering degree (1990) from ENSAM (Paris), and a Ph.D. (1995) in marine geophysics from the University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris 6). He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Geophysics of the University of Texas–Austin for one year (1995) and at the Institute for Geophysics of the Paris School of Mines for 17 months, in 1996–1997. In 1998, S. Operto joined CNRS as a research scientist.He led the SEISCOPE consortium devoted to Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) with Pr. J Virieux between 2006 and 2013. He was associated editor of Geophysics journal between 2009 and 2019. He received the EAGE Louis Cagniard award in 2015 and the best Geophysics paper award in 2008 and 2014 (honorable mention). His professional interests are wave-propagation modeling, slope tomography and full-waveform inversion (FWI). He is a member of SEG and EAGE.
  • Biography of A. Ribodetti: Alessandra RIBODETTI received an MSc. in applied mathematics in 1993 at the University of Genoa (IT) and a PhD in applied geophysics at the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (FR) in the framework of european JOULE program: "3D Asympotic Seismic Imaging". During 1998-2000 she was a post-doctoral fellow at the Paris School of Mines in the framework of european Non-Nuclear Energy programme: "Estimation of AVO attributes after preserved amplitude migration of seismic data" (Marie Curie Research Training Grant). In 2000, she joined IRD (Institut de la Recherche pour le Developpement) in France as a researcher. In 2013 she obtained the HDR (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) at the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (FR). She received a congratulation of one the most outstanding contribution by the Honors and Awards Committee of the Society of Exploration Geophysics, 65th Annual SEG Meeting, Houston, (1995), a Geophysics bright spots for "Joint ray+Born least-squares migration and simulated annealing optimization for target-oriented quantitative seismic imaging" (Ribodetti et al. 2011), and the Honorable mention in the category of Best paper in Geophysics for "Computationally-efficient three-dimensional acoustic Finite-difference frequency- domain seismic modeling in vertical transversely isotropic media with sparse direct solver" co-authored with S. Operto et al.,2014). She participated to severals Committees : BEST-BSTD-JEAI-IRD, ADION of OCA, expert evaluator in Brussels (2000-2001-2002-2015-2017-2018-2019) and 4 Graduate committees. She participated to 7 marine and land seismic cruises between 1994 and 2002. Her current research interests include theoretical seismology, seismic tomography, wave propagation in complex media, inverse theory, exploration seismology, seismic data processing. She is a member of EAGE and SEG.
  • Biography of S. Riffo: Postdoctoral fellow at Géoazur-Université Côte d'Azur, holds both a PhD (2019) and an M2 (2015) degree in Applied Mathematics from Université Paris Dauphine-PSL, and a Mathematical Engineering degree (2013) from Universidad de Chile. His research focuses on the development and analysis of algorithms for solving problems related with partial differential equations and data assimilation.
  • Biography of S. Sambolian: S. Sambolian received a B.Sc. degree in petroleum studies from the American University of Beirut (Lebanon) in 2013 and an M.Sc. degree in geophysics from the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (France) in 2016. He is currently a PhD candidate at Geoazur under the supervision of S. Operto and A. Ribodetti. He is currently working on slope tomography based on eikonal solvers and the adjoint-state method but has a general interest in inverse problems in the context of seismic imaging like tomography, migration or full-waveform inversion. Serge received the American Geophysical Union Outstanding Student Presentation Award during the 2018 Fall meeting and the Geophysical Journal International Student Author Award 2019 for his paper on parsimonious slope tomography. He is a member of SEG, EAGE and AGU.

  • Biography of Z. Xiaole: Z. Xiaole received a Bachelor degree in Geophysics in 2017 from China University of Petroleum. She is currently a joint PhD student, supervised by S. Operto in Geoazur and Ling Chen and Haiqiang Lan in the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academic of Science. She is currently working on 3D slope tomography based on the eikonal solver and adjoint method and its application to 3D areal acquisitions.
